5-HAZOP

The HAZard and OPerability study (HAZOP) analyses deviations from design intent, according to IEC 61882.

"Measures to consider" toggle

In the column selector, the Measures to consider toggle displays extra columns:

  • Measures to consider — HAZOP recommendations to implement
  • G' / P' / C' — residual rating after these measures
  • Access to the residual matrix in the Matrices tab

✦ AI button on measures

An inline ✦ AI button in the measures cells generates suggested corrective measures for the deviation concerned.

Method

The analysis proceeds node by node, parameter by parameter, systematically applying every guide word. Do not move to a new node before exhausting every relevant guide word on the current node.

HAZOP table columns

ColumnDescription
NodeSection of the plant being analysed (selected from the model)
ParameterVariable studied (flow, pressure, temperature, level, composition…)
Guide wordModifier: More / Less / No / Reverse / Other than / Part of / Early / Late
DeviationFull wording = parameter + guide word (e.g. Higher flow than expected)
CausesPossible origins of the deviation
ConsequencesEffects on safety, environment, quality, production
Existing measuresProtections already in place (instrumentation, procedures, training)
GSeverity of the deviation
PProbability
CCriticality = G × P
Measures to consider(if the option is enabled) Additional recommendations
G' / P' / C'Residual rating after measures to consider

HAZOP Metrics / Matrix tab

Same principles as the PHA — configurable independently. Metrics sub-tabs: Severity, Likelihood, Risk levels, Matrix — each with + Add and ↺ Reset buttons.

Measures tab

Table of every planned measure (HAZOP recommendations), with status tracking.
